Flamy Grant

BIO

Award-winning and Billboard-charting artist Flamy Grant is a shame-slaying, hip-swaying, singing-songwriting drag queen from western North Carolina. Her 2022 debut record, Bible Belt Baby, was nominated for Best Pop Album at the San Diego Music Awards, and she is a winner of the 2023 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition. Both a powerhouse vocalist and an intrepid songwriter, Flamy blends the art of drag with her iconic folk/rock sound to create a memorable musical experience.

Flamy is the first drag performer to appear on Christian music charts, with both her song “Good Day” and her Album Bible Belt Baby reaching #1 on iTunes — the latter staying at the top for nine consecutive days. Additionally, “Good Day” debuted at #20 on Billboard’s Christian digital sales chart. Flamy has collaborated with Adeem the Artist, Jennifer Knapp, Semler, and Derek Webb. In addition to playing the New Folk winner's showcase at the 2023 Kerrville Folk Festival, she has played Wild Goose Festival in North Carolina, San Diego Pride's SheFest, and is headlining Blount County Pride in East Tennessee this September.

It’s no accident that Flamy’s drag name is an homage to Amy Grant, the undisputed queen of Christian music and 90s chart-topping pop artist. Much of Flamy’s music centers on the queer spiritual journey, telling stories of resilience and recovery from religious trauma in a world where LGBTQ+ people are frequently ignored by, harmed in, or ejected from religious spaces. With a bold lip, a big lash, and a blistering voice, Flamy drags audiences to a soulful, uplifting church of her own making. This down-to-earth diva has entertained music lovers from Los Angeles to Nashville with her funny, frank, and fabulous songs.

S.P.R.K.L. is probably the only song I’ve ever written via dictation to my smartphone. I wrote it while driving around on tour last year. It was just a vague melody and a jam-packed lyric when I brought it to the studio in Nashville, and the band transformed it into a country-funk earworm that became my Pride month single this year. It’s essentially my answer the a question I get all the time: Flamy, how do you handle all those haters?

In July of 2023, self-proclaimed “superspreader” worship leader Sean Feucht declared that it was “truly the last days” when he posted a picture of drag queen Flamy Grant with other current and former Christian musicians Derek Webb, Jennifer Knapp, and Plumb on X, formerly Twitter. That tweet ended up launching Flamy’s debut album, Bible Belt Baby, to the top of the iTunes Christian music charts for nine consecutive days. A year later, Flamy is releasing a new single from her forthcoming sophomore album CHURCH that directly addresses the controversy. “Last Days” is an unflinching country-rock anthem that celebrates the “last days of mediocre men with no imagination whatsoever.” It’s not hard to guess who she’s singing about.

From Flamy: “If these truly are the last days, let them be the last days of bigotry, shame, and gatekeeping. American evangelicalism and the people like Sean Feucht who still carry its torch are laughably impotent when it comes to spiritual integrity. But they are also deeply dangerous in their ability to oppress, vilify, and ostracize the gifts of queer Christians. As we witness the bloat of Christian nationalism in America, I’m resolute about making art that invites people of conscience to stand up to this distorted, demented form of Christianity.”

It is not the job of every queer person who comes up in an oppressive faith to stick around and try to fix it. It's not the job of every queer person to elbow their way into spaces that don't want them. It's not the job of every queer person to try to worship with people who are hurting them.

It's hard to heal where you're being harmed every single week. Sometimes, maybe even most times, the bravest and best thing a queer person can do to save themselves, to heal, to find hope, to find authentic, loving, welcoming community... is to leave the one they’re in.

Until the Christian church and its God have figured out how to love queer people properly, I'll be here in the middle of it all doing that job for them. And I'll also be pointing the way to the exits.

QUEER JOY WITH AN APPALACHIAN BACKBEAT

Bear witness to a rhinestoned revival featuring the drag star who has the music world doing a double-take. This Pride season, Flamy Grant takes you into a world where her Appalachian roots meet high-octane drag artistry in a storytelling concert unlike any other.

After her history-making debut at #1 on the Christian music charts (yes, you read that correctly!) and a recent Best Album nomination at the 2026 International Folk Music Awards, Flamy Grant is hitting the road with a show equal parts sanctuary and spectacle. This isn’t your average singer-songwriter with a guitar. Flamy serves award-winning songs, eye-popping style, and open-hearted stories in one extraordinary evening that will set your soul ablaze.

Expect blistering vocals that soar as high as her wig, laugh-out-loud anecdotes from a recovering evangelical, and vivacious energy that only a Billboard-charting drag queen can deliver. Flamy’s is a voice that demands to be heard — and with her pipes, that’s never going to be a problem.
Strap in, darlings. The Queen of Queer Country is here to make this Pride month unforgettable.
